NC State Ports return to normal operations

North Carolina State Ports Authority facilities in Charlotte, Morehead City and Wilmington have returned to business as usual.

Assessment teams determined Saturday afternoon that minor damage at the Port of Wilmington from Tropical Storm Hanna did not impede normal cargo operations. No damage was reported at the Port of Morehead City.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Coast Guard on Sunday afternoon determined that the Cape Fear River navigational channel was unobstructed and aids to navigation functioning.  It was reopened to all vessel traffic at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7.

Beaufort Inlet at the Port of Morehead City remained restricted a little longer, but was reopened at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7.
